Solution

Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network.

I have a working (mostly) V.1 Sure Signal Serial number 21221067529.  It works fine most of the time but doesn't like the frequent power cuts we have in rural South Wales. Following a power cut the box sometimes reconnects without problems, sometimes requires a reboot but occasionally just refuses to allow calls.  I know my phone is working correctly, I believe the Sure Signal is connected to your network as my phone identifies the Vodafone network as available but when I try to connect my phone gives me the message "Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"

I've searched the forum for this issue but the only references I can turn up are in relation to phones and not Sure Signal boxes.

Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

Just come back into the house 5pm 22/9/14 to find my phone reporting a full signal so for whatever you did I thank you.

I also did a speed test with the following results:-

This is less than the usual 0.96 Mbps but the local kids are home from school so to be expected.  I understand that the optimum speed should be 1.5 Mbps, and live in hope that one day some ISP will provide this in rural areas, but I am not holding my breath.

I'll go away now and stop bothering you.  I'll leave you with a final thought.  Over the years I have had a Suresignal I have read/skimmed most of the threads on here looking for ways to fix the connection problems.  I have no idea if any of the tips have worked or if the system just fixes itself.  I have yet to read a post where someone from Voadfone has said  "Sorry it's our fault but we've fixed it now"

regards

Keith

Hi Keith,

Thanks for the update.

I’m glad to see this is working for you. :smileyhappy:

Cheers,

Laura

Hi 'smee again

Just got home to find that we have had yet another power cut.  I only know because all the clocks are flashing (cooker, microwave etc.)  The Suresignal has reconnected itself and is still giving a full signal :smileysurprised: just like it used to in the olden days (before "Your Suresignal has moved update the postcode" message)  The gods, or Vodafone, are smiling upon me.  So thanks again for the fix.

Just on the off chance it may help someone else I had some fun with my partners phone not connecting to the now working Suresignal.

Reboot phone - no

Pull battery, reboot phone - no

Pull battery, remove Sim, reboot phone - no

Reinsert Sim, reboot phone - no

Replace her Sim with mine - yes - full signal + 2 texts from Vodafone re settings for my new phone.

Reinsert her Sim - yes - full signal.

It doesn't do to get too cocky following a success as, when replacing my Sim, I put it in upside down and couldn't connect!   Ho hum.

regards
