Hello,

I have just purchaes a Vodafone PAYG dongle, model K3565 with the 1GB of data that "doesn't expire". All seems to work well (VPN, web etc), except for one thing. Facebook chat. When connected via the dongle, I get chat messages incoming, but when I try and reply on chat, just says 'sending' and never gets through. It works fine on normal broadband and indeed via my mobile phone. Any ideas what is happening here ?

Please note this is not a SMS sending question (which I know cannot be done) but a facebook chat functionality issues (any maybe other IM's as well)

Thanks

We're not aware of any issues like this at present

Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

Interesting. After a little more testing, I have found that it works fine if I connect via the 'Connect to' method, but not via the vodafone mobile connect lite method. Also 'connect to' shows a doubling in line speed compared to VMC, and graphiocs come out at full resultion straight away rather than having to Ctrl+F5 each time. So it seems that VMC is limiting the connection somehow  . So looks like it's best to use the 'connect to' method - although as it's faster, I'm getting through my data allowance quicker. . . Any ideas ?

Hi Bartie

If the 'Connect to' method is working better for you then theres no problem with using that at all.

If you go to the Vodafon.co.uk website and download the full version of the Vodafone Mobile Connect software you can turn Optimisation off (The filtering of images) and also have the data tracker. Best of both worlds!! lol

Vodafone Mobile Connect Full Version

Let me know how that goes for you and if you have any more questions please let us know. :)

Cheers

Hi I'm having the same problem. I can use everything on the web fine, even Facebook. But I can't use the chat feature. I can receive but not reply. It just gets stuck 'sending' and never gets anywhere. I've tried the Pop Out Chat method too - as I'd read that worked for some people - but no joy. Very frustrating!

Also, Facebook keeps asking me to enter a security two word message for EVERY post! I can use it as normal at work but not at home.

Thanks

Device is a K3565 pay as you go no expire 1GB.

Hi genie1, and welcome! :P

Whilst we have no control over Facebook or how your computer reacts whilst on the site, have you tried:

- using another browser?
- checking your antivirus / firewall application isn't limiting port access through the modem connection - try disabling it?
- the latest VMC version as linked in Wayne's post above?

Please get back to us with how you get on!
