Hi
I just upgraded online to a sim only deal, 20 gig, £20 a month.
I also noticed its only 4G and then i realised i have a iPhone 5 (not c or s)
Panic set in as i wondered if this is compatible.
I phoned Vodafone Customer services and they said this is fine with no problems and it is compatible.
So panic over, but then i googled it and found it isnt, although this post reply was a few years old
So is this handset compatible or not?

Hi
Im sorry but No it won't work on the 4G spectrum Vodafone Uk uses.
The 5s will.

Sigh ok... so why be told incorrect information over the phone?
I mentioned the fact it was a "plain" iPhone 5, not C or S several times.
Was even told " a friend has an iphone 5 and it works on 4g"
But still the new SIM deal is 50% less than my current monthly bill, so at least the phone will still be usable and cheaper?

It'll work on ee.
I can only assume the agent looked at a Spec sheet which shows it as 4G compatible but didn't realise it only works in certain spectrums. I sold my 5 and bought a 5s a while ago because of the same reason.

In fact I've just noticed the new tariff and 20 gig data usage tracker already seem to be showing up in my account, so do i even need to bother switching SIM's?
I guess not if it wont work in this current handset
