Hi,
Even though both say Vodafone unfortunately they are not associated with each other so one sim won't work in it.
In order to unlock an iPhone supplied by Vodafone U.K. It has to have been used on the uk network.
30 days making calls , sending texts , using data on Pay as you Go.
X3 bills paid on time on Pay Monthly.
Or if you can try asking the original owner to request it's unlock.
Or you'd need to send it to someone you know in the uk. And they use it on Vodafone uk network and then they request its unlock and then send it back to you.

Then, could I not release the phone here in Spain?
Thank you so much!

No > your own Vodafone network cannot unlock it.
Apple won't unlock a Network locked phone.
Most highstreet shops or market stall holders cannot unlock iPhones due to the A chip inside them.
Vodafone Uk will only unlock the iPhone for either the original owner or for someone who has bought it second hand and used it on Vodafone Uk network for the minimum of 30 days making calls, sending texts and using data on Payg or x3 bills have been paid on time for Pay Monthly.
