My father's iphone stopped charging 13 months into a 36 month contract. He hardly used it.
He's 78 - the Vodafone shop say that there is nothing they can do and cannot suggest what to do apart from contact Apple. Is this ususal? He's stressed about paying for another 23 months for nothing.

There is a way to reset an iPhone by holding its power button and home button together until the Apple Logo appears - hopefully.
Do check the iPhone's charging port for dust or lint and clean it out carefully, and try another charging cable.
May I ask did Vodafone supply the iPhone?
Apple apply a 12 month warranty on an iPhone but I have come across that Vodafone are applying a 24 month manufacturing warranty on iPhone's supplied by them. This is relatively new so some employees may not be fully aware of this.

Thanks. Yes - it was supplied by Vodafone and they have checked it in the shop. I'll see if he can push on the 24 month warranty....

You're welcome.
Please do try the tips I mentioned.
As it's a new directive by Vodafone it's understandable if some are not aware of this. This new directive regsrding 24 month warranties started on the 1st August 2017.
If you go direct to Apple they'll check it's warranty status and most probably advise it's passed it's 12 month warranty they apply.

It may be worth mentioning that under the new Vodafone 24 month warranty, accessories will still only be covered for 12 months warranty. This is the reason I suggested first trying Apple, if it is only a faulty charger, these are available in store.
It is also quite nice to be able to go back to Vodafone with the fault diagnosed and ask for a warranty repair especially when the phone has already been checked by Vodafone.

If the Vodafone Staff question this new warranty period @rwalmsley176 then point them to this link.

Amazing - looks exactly what he needs. I'll try to go in with him to the store. Watch this space!

The maximum length Vodafone will support a contract is 24 months, indeed under an Ofcom ruling, contracts can be no longer than 24 months and 36 month contracts are banned. You need to check your Fathers' online account for his upgrade and contract end date.
If the phone is not charging, it could well be something very simple such as a defective phone charger. The best way forward is to make an online appointment with a genius at a Apple Store, they have the right tools and software to diagnose exactly where the problem is.
If you still have problems, please come back to the forum or take the phone into a Vodafone store to take advantage of the 24 month warranty now offered on an iphone by Vodafone.
