k3765 - Disconnects Every 20 Mins

Well i had an older dongle, black one not sure of model number but that works fine, only problem it doesn't get as strong a signal as the k3765. But the problem lies with the k3765, it's brand new out the box and it keeps disconnecting every 20 mins or so, well longest i had it in use for was 40 mins, then 10 and now it's still going, before it was disconnecting all over the place to. I usually have 2 bars of 3g so it's not signal loss that's the problem.. each time it does this i have to take it out the usb port and plug it back in then it all works fine again.

Cancel still working, just dc'd while i was typing this...

Someone help, i can't stand another phone call to vodafone customer services AGAIN!

Hi trumiz,

Although I'm no great technical whizz with this stuff, I've just had a work with a colleague who seem to think you may be using the iold software on the new dongle.

Could you do me a favour and update the software from this link to our Business Website and then let me know if the problem persists?

Cheers,

Hi trumiz,

It does look like it may be more of a hardware issue looking at the symptons you are getting.

Could you first follow the instructions below, and see if you get the same issue

Enabling a GPRS connection for the modem.

1. Click on the modem drivers you are using, then click on the Properties button.

2. Click on the Advanced tab or if using Vista Change settings > advanced. The computer will now go into an “Extra Settings” page which has space for the user to enter an “Extra initialization command”, enter the following at+cgdcont=1,”ip”,”internet” then click on OK.

3. Click on OK and then close the Control Panel.

Create a GPRS dial up connection.

1. Click on Start, highlight Settings and click on Control Panel.

2. Double click on “Network Connections or Network and Sharing Centre”, then click on Create a new connection.

3. The computer will now open the “New Connection Wizard”, click on Next.

4. Select “Connect to the Internet” and press Next.

5. Select “Set up my connection manually” and press Next.

6. Select “Connect using a dial-up modem” and press Next.

7. Select the modem your are going to use and remove any pre-selected that will not be using this connection. Click on Next.

8. Enter the name you are going to assign this connection (e.g. – Vodafone GPRS), then click on Next.

9. Enter *99# in the “Phone number” field and click on Next.

10. Enter the username of web and the password of web in the relevant fields, then click on Next.

11. Click on Finish.

12. Click on Dial to connect, the computer will show when you are connected.

If your dongle still disconnects after a few minutes, you need to look at our repair thread, as to getting a replacement device.

Let me know how you get on

Hi trumiz,

I've just spoken to Trev, it looks like he missed the first few steps of the setup out, I'll be more than happy to fill these in :).

In order to find your modem driver, you need to go to Start > Control Panel > Phone and Modem Options. If you can't see Phone and Modem Options, you'll just need to click "Switch To Classic View" when you're in the control panel.

Once you're in Phone and modem options, click the modems tab. If it asks for location information first of all, then fill this in. The modem driver you're looking for will either be listed as Huwaei or Globetrotter, just click on it and then press properties. Once you've done that, follow the rest of Trev's instructions.

If you need any further assistance then don't hesitate to ask :).

About your reply, this is only for enabling a GPRS connection, the problem lies it seems that only when i'm on 3G am i getting disconnection issues. Is there a fix to this? I've already had my dongle replaced once.
