new type dongle

have used old type dongle for approx 2 years had no trouble,recently changed to new type one which does not pick up signal in a lot of places old type used to.Is it possible to make old type dongle work with new type contract sim card as it connects but do not load websites when tried

You are free to put your sim card into the old dongle if you prefer to use the old one instead.

Can I ask which model is your new dongle please and I can have a look as to what the speed of the dongle should be for you?

Thanks for reply to my question,Have tried to change the sim card from dongle k3765 to k3520 it connects to internet but will not load web pages.Have also got a E172 dongle which does the same.k3765 dongle does not pick up gprs signal like the older dongles do.Please advise if anything else i can try.

I can't see why it's not possible to use contract sim in k3520. If dongles were for different packages you might need to change some settings,
ie for VMC create a new connection to use contract settings (apn = internet) and possibly set to automatic obtain ip address and nameserver.

How do you know it connects to internet ok, can you reach other sites ok using other than http?

Three reasons I've seen for failure to connect are

authentication failure, from wrong apn
connection failure from wrong phone number (*99# unless you know different).
dns not being picked up correctly from having wrong settings in VMC (that for my contract k3520 defaulted to fixed nameservers no longer in use).

There is also content control but that wouldn't affect all sites.
