I have tried to install a VSS v3 onto a network with a TP Link router and PLusnet as the ISP
and it does not work i i am not new to VSS as i have another working at my other home.
I have a flashing red light, and a solid orange right hand light (phone symbol)
I have checked the VSS is registered and have received the Text and checked the site too and it shows registered.
I have manually set the IP address for the Mac address of the VSS and have put on port forward for the various ports, have reset the VSS and also done a lot of waiting since wednesday when i first tried to set this up.
The Serial number is 40132630464
i have set the MTU to the highest setting at 1492
my traceroute is
traceroute to 212.183.133.177 (212.183.133.177), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets

Hi boulterc99,
This light sequence happens when sure Signal hasn’t been allocated an IP address during setup.
I can see that you have manually assigned an IP address, is this still showing?
If yes, please reboot the router and the Sure Signal to make sure it is picked up.
Does your router have UPnP? Is this showing as active?
If you have it but it’s not active, please activate this option.

Hi James
UpNp is enabled.
The mac address is showing as having an ip address allocated - this is the address i have done the port fowarding to.

Hi boulterc99,
I’m sorry about the delay in responding to your posts.
Everything sounds fine but it’s still not connecting.
As you said that you have another working Sure Signal at home, would it be possible to swap the two over to see what happens?
I appreciate that this may not be possible due to the circumstances but it’d indicate where the problem lies.
If this isn’t possible, please confirm that you’ve forwarded the following details to your Sure Signals IP address.
For instructions on how to do this, we recommend you contact your ISP or Router Manufacturer, or refer to the default guide for your particular make and model, over at http://portforward.com.
Destination IP Addresses:
212.183.133.177
212.183.133.178
212.183.133.179
212.183.133.181
212.183.133.182
212.183.131.128/26
Ports and Protocols:
Port 50 - TCP/IP
Port 4500 - UDP
Port 500 - UDP
Port 123 - UDP
Port 8 - TCP/IP
Port 1723 (BT customers only) - TCP/UDP
Please note that in the above list of IP addresses, the notation "212.183.131.128/26" means the complete range of IP addresses between 212.183.131.128 and 212.183.131.191.
Your router also needs to assign the Sure Signal with a DNS (Domain Name Server) address via DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).

HI James
no its not possible to swap the devices as they are 110 miles apart.
When you say have i setup these fowards to my sure signal
Destination IP Addresses:
212.183.133.177
212.183.133.178
212.183.133.179
212.183.133.181
212.183.133.182
212.183.131.128/26
what does that mean ? - this lists destination addresses? I am assuming you mean source addresses - but having said that i cant find anyway of directing an inbound address to another address
I have setup the port forwards as requested.

James
having read a lot of other entries i thought i would try and replace the network cable supplied by vodafone. I have puchased a new cable and installed that and in the process reset the VSS - i now have a solid red (light 1) and a flashing internet light -- (ie light 2) and no other lights eg 3 or 4.
any suggestions on what this means -- as this combination is not shown in your troubleshooting script.
