Are the Fibre essentials packages FTTP or FTTC?

Can't find much info about this.

I'm in a FTTP area (Openreach) covered by Vodafone. Would they process Fibre 1 Essentials/Fibre 2 Essentials as FTTP or FTTC?

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/broadband/essentials-broadband

Also what upload speeds are both packages?

Thank you

You're in an FTTP area, so if Vodafone is available they'll prefer to provide over FTTP.

FTTC is either stop-sell or pretty close to it, depending on the area.

Yes if you are in an FTTP area, Essentials will delivered over that, exactly the same as any service.

As far as I know, Essentials only differ in the contract terms and price. otherwise its the same product as Fibre 1 and 2 so the upload will be the same as the equivalent Fibre 1 or 2.

Last question: Say I want to leave after 3 months as other providers have good offers (thinking black friday), will Vodafone just let me leave no questions asked even if the benefits are still being paid?

Thanks

Yes, there are no early termination charges, but can't see Essentials price being beaten, even on sales event.

I'm surprised they offer Essentials on Fibre 2, as the idea is to help "cash strapped" families, but that's marketing for you.

Just thought of something else, sorry.

I currently have BT FTTC. If I order Vodafone essentials and since it's FTTP it won't cancel BT FTTC right? I want to have both active so I have time to port my landline number to another voip provider. Is this possible?

Or should I just let Vodafone port it to their digital voice? I don't want to be stuck to vodafone router for digital voice and the thread about doing it on your own router seems very difficult.

If you want the existing FTTC service to continue, just make sure they know it is a new installation.

Do not port the number, that will almost certainly cancel the FTTC service.

Previous posters on here have said that actually getting Essentials is a long process, as it all seems to be done "by hand". They may have improved the service but thought I'd just warn you.

Thank you I just read the thread. Unless I'm missing something it was only about 3 people that had problems out of the probably many thousands that have applied?

It is something to consider for sure though.

You are right. I just though it best to let you know, so if the team are slow getting back it doesn't come as a surprise..

Do let us know how it goes for you.

Hi

I was considering if Vodafone did a low cost package.

I renewed for 24 months on Thursday 07 SEPT 2023, and I now find out / understand I could have qualified for the essentials package, hopefully.

On that day I had an offer, actually offers over 3 days, of BB for 24 pounds for 24 months if I renewed.

That would have locked me in for 48 months, WEIRD.

However it seems that the essentials package has only ONE distinct advantage, for me, of no in contract price increases.

So my ""bundle"" of bringing my mobile to Vodafone to get the "together" discount is almost as good IMHO.

and these numbers mean I should be hassle free,

Downstream Upstream

Current Rate79999 kbps19999 kbps
Maximum Rate113964 kbps35293 kbps

if I avoid contacting Vodafone Customer Support ARF ARF.

So there are offers out there I believe, but Vodafone seems more than adequate.
