I started using my laptop Monday after not using it since November. I could connect to the Internet and all the browsers I use are working (Edge, Firefox, opera GX). However I noticed that Windows update would not work. I can't remember the exact error, but it was about not being connected to the Internet.
I also noticed that other apps were not working. Notably Steam and Nord VPN. Steam could not update because it didn't have an Internet connection, and I couldn't update nord vpn, or log into it again once I reinstalled it to try and fix the problem. I also could not use Microsoft store to download apps.
I assumed this was a Windows error as I've been using surface pro, PC, multiple tablets and phones with few issues (although I could not get Microsoft store to work on my pc on Thursday, I assumed it was a Microsoft issue, but now I don't know). I tried every single fix I could find online and none of them fixed the error. I reinstalled win 10, both keeping the files and then not keeping the files. Today I formated the whole laptop and installed windows 11. In order to do this I took my laptop to my Dad's house, and it was working on his WiFi (also Vodafone fibre). Get it home and the same error persists. So finally I realise it has to be the Internet. I log into the router and try to find a way to diagnose the problem. As a test I briefly switch off the firewall on the router and steam is able to install the updates and windows update started downloading the next update.
So I do not know what to do next. I can't leave the firewall turned off on my router, and I can't find a way to get my programs to work with it on. I also don't know what has changed as this worked fine before.
I don't know what information to provide. Using the Vodafone app on my phone I can see the laptop is connected.

If I had to guess, I'd say you may need to manually correct the clock and then try updating the OS and software again (with the VPN initially turned off).
