I've been having issues with connecting my TP Link ER605 router directly to my ONT Modem for FTTP. The Router has PPPoE capabilities, and I'm assuming that there is some configuration that I'm missing for Vodafone, as I know other people are successfully using these routers with other providers using PPPoE on FTTP. in my logs I get the following errors when it tries to connect:
Which suggests that the Vodafone end is booting the connection, likely to some misconfiguration. My current settings are as follows, minus the full username.
I have tried the VLAN id as 101 and disabled. I cannot set it to 0, although I haven't tried it on VLAN 1 yet, which I might try this evening. I've left IPv6 until I can establish a connection. Also IPTV is turned off for the connection.
Solved! Go to best answer.

"Authentication failed" because Vodafone have given you the wrong PPPoE details. Try pestering them again.

As a side note, these are the full settings available under IPTV, although I dont think these are relevant unless I wanted to pass the Digital Voice setup into my network, but that's for another day. I'm sure it's possible, I just haven't seen anyone try it yet, and frankly I never use the landline so may just ditch it altogether.
I also tried cloning the MAC address of the Vodafone Router on the ER605, but still no dice.

@JD_84 While we are waiting for the pictures to be moderated, are you on BT Open Reach or City Fibre?

BT Openreach.

@JD_84 OK, the VLAN is correct at 101. Try turning off all IPv6 references as VF's implementation is odd.
Concerning IPv6, this is worth a look https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Other-broadband-queries/Possible-IPV6-bug-in-Vodafone-Wifi-hub-that-...

Thanks for the Tip on the IPv6, I'll follow the advice given via that link. I'm not using it on my own hardware currently, but it might be worth passing through to at least my internal IoT VLAN at some stage in the future, should it become necessary.
I'll try VLAN 101 with the 802.1Q setting enabled. I think I've tried that combination before, but I'll check it again.

@JD_84 In your pictures (we can see them now) your PPPoE username looks wrong (unless you deliberately changed it in the picture for security). The name format is dsl001234567@broadband.vodafone.co.uk

I deliberately changed it for the picture. Although I'm not convinced they're correct. I've reattempted at lunch time with following:
With the first option I get the following logs, with an additional log line (not include in the image due to the username being present) - PPPOE [Username] failed to connect to the server because authentication failed with the wrong username or password.
With the second two options, I only get the PADI timeout error.
I've already confirmed my username and password with Vodafone twice, so unless there are separate details for ADSL lines and Fibre Lines, I'm pretty sure those are correct.

@JD_84 Again we wait for the pictures. In other threads we have seen it sometimes take 2 or 3 times to be given the correct PPPoE credentials.
Have you tried a router reset by holding in the recessed "Reset" button for a good ten seconds. Wait 10 minutes and see what's happened (if anything). Otherwise it may be one of those "magic" things that is done at VF once you get through to someone who has a clue.
Perhaps you could paste the text of a slightly longer log that incudes the PPPoE negotiation?

That's a paste of the error log, username obscured. Seems like it's being rejected on the Vodafone end. Now the password doesn't have any characters that could be mixed up with any others, and I assume the username after the DSL part is all numbers?
