Consoles connected but no Internet

Hi

 Im having issues with my PlayStation and xbox when i switch them on they say they are connected to the router but no Internet and the only solution to fix the issue is by switching the router off and on, when i do this they then connect.

I have spoken to vodofone customer service who no offence are useless and don't seem to have a clue what they are on about.

They went through a few things but nothing has worked, they even have told me i can't have them connected by a lan cable as that could be causing the issue which again is just absurd and clearly isn't the case as the issue still persists.

This has only been happening since i upgraded to superfast broadband which comes with a booster, it's worth noting the consoles can be off for about a week or so before switching on again, though i doubt this would be causing the problem surely? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

This has been seen in this forum before. Some people have had success connecting the console via an unmanaged switch.

No idea what's happened there with the spacing. But would that solve the issue?? This happens even by wireless connection it connects to the router but doesn't connect to the Internet unless i power  the router on and off

.@nifnafnof I'm not a console owner, but have a search for Xbox and/or PS5 and you should find something of use. I would assume that if you used a range extender that would proved ethernet sockets and WiFi you may be ok, but as I said gaming consoles is not my expertise, so please have a search.

Edit. Additional thought, perhaps the VF router thinks that the console IP address is already used, and this is why restarting the router does the trick. If the console can be given a fixed IP address (and remember to make sure it's not in the range allocated by DHCP on the router) then that may be worth a try. Alternatively tell the router to timeout DHCP leases to less than 24 hrs.

If it's occurring over wi-fi as well as ethernet, then a switch won't cure the problem in this case. (and that is usually only the xbox when coming out of energy save, I don't think anyone has reported it with the PS)
