Just switching from BT Fibre to Vodafone, for some reason when we switched to BT Fibre the Openreach master socket wasn't changed and so we still have a filter. Is this going to work OK?

Using a DECT phone is probably the easiest way to use the service, just connect the base station to the router.
The telephone service is included in the contract, and calls cost the same as on PSTN, however some options are not available (such as voice mail)
Thanks - our post crossed.

Indeed they did.
Regarding your other posts, obviously the router will need to be on all the time for the telephone to work.

Yes I am aware of that.
In time the locating and powering of a FTTP ONT with the router adjacent is going to be 'interesting'. Is a short dedicated 2-socket extension ( not a 2-way block in the socket ) officially allowed? The house is 1970's build with minimum number of sockets plus where convenient to the builders and electrican for shortest cable runs rather than use. Likewise the consumer unit. Before cordless phones never mind internet the rings were added to with spurs - permitted at the time but probably not now. The only place for the ONT by an outside wall power socket will be bad for Wi-fi coverage. For the router to be where it is now, and glossing over needing to being permanently powered without running an extension lead across the room and over a door, would need a LAN cable of at least 12m maybe more along the skirting and over a doorway.

1. Powering from a strip is not a problem.
2. The connection between the ONT and the Router can be made with a longer cable if you have concerns about the positioning. LAN cables can be run for many yards/metres (Cat5 max length is 100m). There are also flat ones instead of round ones which may make it more descrete, and even in a choice of colours.

Thanks for replying

Is this by Vodafone as part of the package retaining the number, an additional service charge to Vodafone even if no call package, or only by subscription to a third party VoiP service?
Currently I have no landline call package and use mobile for outgoing calls but reply on landline for incoming calls.
