Sky Q box not connecting on Wifi

Hi,

we have recently moved to Vodafone BB and the Sky Q box will not connect to the Wi-Fi, I can connect to the router using an Ethernet cable to a Vodafone booster (as the main router is in another room), but the Sky Q screen says it’s connected to the router but not connected to the internet!

Vodafone have been no help and said it’s a Sky problem, but everything was fine before we moved to Vodafone. And Sky can’t get an engineer to us until 20th Feb ‘25!!

Any advise would be massively appreciated.

The problem with connecting to the Wi-Fi is the Sky Q can not use WPA3 security. There is a setting in the Vodafone Hub for compatibility mode so use that to create a Wi-Fi it can connect to.

thanks, I tried that but it didn’t work either . Shows connected to router but showing no internet still !

Any other ideas please?

I suspected it wouldn't work even when connected via Wi-Fi, as it should have worked on Ethernet.

Just in case it has anything to do with Vodafone's content controls, I would bypass them by using different DNS servers, so try changing from Vodafone's default. I have a different router, but the setting should be very similar.

I tried this, and I changed the DNS setting on the Sky Q box to 1.1.1.1. too, then tried it as 8.8.8.8. but neither got it connected unfortunately . So I guess it’s something else, it’s so frustrating! I just can’t be the only one that has had this problem, someone at Vodafone or Sky should know the answer, and their must be one, I can’t believe that our only option will be to go back to Sky Broadband!

You could try what is suggests in this post from the Sky forum. Didn't cure their problem, but they never said what did.

Thanks, yes I saw that post. It didn’t help for me unfortunately 😭 I’ll have to keep on searching
