Speeds being capped London W4 area

Hi,

It looks like my broadband is being capped artificially.  I have the 76Mb package, since 2019 and have always had 70Mb, then a couple months back it went down to 60Mb and now it's stuck at 44Mb.

I have a script in my router that runs speedtests from WAN every day 3x at 4, 5 and 6 AM as can be seen below

Can anyone from Vodafone respond?  This is beginning to be the straw that broke the camel's back and will be moving to Virgin if this doesn't change.

The first thing that I'd do is check to see if the modem has resynced at a lower rate.

That the upstream, while it has dropped, hasn't dropped to a greater degree, would make me think that DLM has kicked in, and the reason is some form of electrical noise outside the property.

You could try the trick of turning off the modem for just over 30 minutes and see what the sync rate is when you turn it back on.

EDIT:  Additionally I'd probably suggest that as well as running spdMerlin script that you run the conmon script - as this is just a simple ping test, it's something that can be run all day long.

Thanks for the reply. I rebooted the modem and it locked to a higher line rate, it was at 43000 before rebooting. Though no signs of improvement so far...

I've just edited my original answer, suggesting that you also run the "conmon" script, which will show up any disconnects and instabilities.  Because conmon is a simple ping based script you can run it 24/7 without any noticeable effects on connection speed!
