Hi, looking for any help please.
Router Archer VR2800
I've recently joined Vodafone with their fibre service and alls working ok with the supplied router.
I've tried connecting my router, which I have used for the last 2 years.
I have my dsl info which I've asked for twice just to make it is correct but I cannot get my vr2800 to connect to the Internet at all. Tried hard reset too.
Does anyone know if im doing something wrong or is the vr2800 just not compatible with fibre to the home.

What service did you use with this router previously, was it provided by your previous supplier? Have you checked with the manufacturer of the router, to check it is compatible?

Used bt, talktalk and sky previously with no issue but that wasn't fibre to the home.
I've sent an email to the manufacturer to ask but I'm thinking it's just not compatible

I see no reason why that router shouldn't work on FTTP. However you may need to provide the VLAN, which is 911 for CityFibre and 101 for Openreach. Of course you need to connect to the WAN/LAN port and I don't now if it is auto sensing or you need to tell it somewhere in the settings.

I have changed the VLan to 101, which is what I've read on this site for other routers. I'm assuming 101 works for Vodafone?
The cable was connected via the lan/wan port. I've done a hard reset but getting nothing at all.

So what exactly is your VR2800 plugged into? If you are on VDSL it should be plugged into the phone line, if you were on FTTP then you'd want to be plugging it into the ONT/PON using an ethernet cable.
It sounds as though you may just be plugging it into the Vodafone router. Doing that with the VR2800 in router mode you'd need no username or password and just have the WAN connection set to automatic - but you would be double natted which can sometimes be problematic. Or you could have the VR2800 set up as an Access Point (AP mode), no double NAT, but the Vodafone router would effectively still be in charge.
Far better if you can, to remove the Vodafone router from the equation altogether.

These are the connections I have. Its fttp and then I've connected via ethernet to the lan/wan port.
The setup from the little fttp box that openreach installed, works fine with the Vodafone supplied router.
I tried using the vr2800 as just a router with the Vodafone box in control but had no end of issues with signal drop out

It could just be the username and password are wrong. How did you obtain it? If you use live chat you can copy and paste it to ensure it's correct.

If your upload is significantly lower than your download you're on the openreach network - VLAN 101
If your upload and download are similar you're on the City fibre network - VLAN 911.

Sometimes it's best to reset the router first.
