Vdsl Issues over last months

Im a new customer from Talk Talk but have noticed over the last 3 months i have lost some sync speed that seems to keep going down.

Im on a Draytek 2860n that is rock solid as keeps a connection down to 1db always but have noticed after the solid first 10 days which all was fine on a max sync of 79,997 which it always has been.

And i think the Remote SNR was 6db which was solid for years.

Now all of a sudden over the last 2 months it has gone down to 73,999 then recentally has gown down further to 66,99k and i have noticed that the remote SNR is now at 15db.

But im not getting any crazy resyncs normally around 7 days or more liike 15 on a resync and not getting any other issuses. Have even done a quiet line test thats not showing anything. Looks likt the DLM is stuck but never seems to get any better.

I know it could be worse but at this rate im going to be down +10 meg and more soon.

Can provide full vdsl stats if needed.

cheers all

One thing to note, the upload speed is capped by OpenReach, and in trying to balance the connection it's possible you could open up the console and use the code "vdsl snr -30".  This won't force the link between your modem and the cabinet to do anything the cabinet doesn't want to do, but it may reduce the download SNR (which increases download speed) at the expense of unused upload margin.

Hi yes forgot to say back when i was with Talk Talk i used to have the -50 snr tweak in place , but recentaly i have tried -35 with the same sync speeds so found a sweet spot of -40 that gives the max DS Attainable Rate of about 82meg with no drops.

but it does seem i cannot get over the 66,997 whatever i try.

Have you try'ed a 45 minute DLM brake when ever I have self imposed sync problems (testing Asus firmware for DSL faults) and this ##~## up my DLM I found getting it back to a working state firmware or using the hg612 open reach modem and leaving the line off for 45 minutes before plugging it back in seams to reset the DLM bear back to a very slow sleep and the speed will creep back up.

It could also be one of your neighbours has been to the car boot and brought something second hand with reins back home 🤦😂 tune a radio to 618mhz I think?? and go for a walk 😁

Yes I did do this the other night as my draytek router died after a firmware update, which enabled me to finally put in my new Unifi edge router connected to a new draytek 130 rmodem and get set up.
but even after this I’m still stuck at the same speed. Might change after a few days fingers crossed.
Its odd as the old draytek still powers on but the lights flash very lightly so might be a faulty power pack.
