Vodafone broadband can't port existing landline number

Was trying to sign up for Fibre 1 BB, but vodafone won't let me port my existing landline number, and it seems that this a common problem somewhat unique to vodafone; most, if not all, other providers are able just to simply use your existing landline number, as has been my experience these last two decades.

I spoke to a vodafone agent, who told me that in order to keep my existing landline number I would need to sign up to vodafone, vodafone engineers would come out and install a second line with a new number on it and once my previous supplier had finished providing me service, then the new second line would be disconnected leaving me with my original landline and original number.

This sounds ridiculous on the part of vodafone. No doubt a vodafone agent will reply to this and advise I go on their facebook or twitter page to pose this question. Well instead of that, post an answer here please vodafone.

Do vodafone actually want new customers?

From this forum, it would seem Vodafone do have problems porting numbers at the moment. Don't know why that should be, I had no problems when I moved from Sky two years ago.

You won't get any answers from Vodafone on here.

Hi there @andyp66 - Hmm this does sound odd. We'd usually process a working line takeover from your current provider. We would need account access to be able to look further into this, I'd advise speaking with our sales team on 191 (from a Vodafone number), 0333 304 0191 (from an alternative number) or livechat.
