Had 910mb installed beginning of the month, the engineer was adamant I should have had the ultra router, said himself I’d be lucky to get 1/4 the speed my connection was capable of over WiFi. Asked Vodafone the same day and they confirmed my router was correct type and will be fine.
it’s not. I get a max of 200Mbps from router to computer which is 4m max away in another room though an open archway.
2nd level tech were hopeless. Kept trying to bring the conversation around to either using an Ethernet cable, saying my connection is fine and I’m getting the speeds I should and am above minimum speed guarantee (pretty sure they were trying it on and I had to repeat that it’s the WiFi not the wan) or get me to pay to upgrade to the pro II to get the ultra hub.
my 3 part question to anyone at Vodafone if they actually read this forum is this.
why do you supply equipment that you know is not capable of realising the speeds your customers are paying for. Why should I pay more to get the same connection, ultimately just paying for a router you should be supplying anyway because I took out a contract for 910mb and you’re supplying it. Why do you guarantee a minimum speed of half what your customers are paying for but that’s only to the router as surely you’re aware this is 2023 and WiFi is a pretty common way to connect devices to your network, unless you expect me to run Ethernet cables all over the floors and up the stairs, but then you are aware some devices do not have an Ethernet port, aren’t you?.
to/dr - vodafone, stop supplying crap routers that are not capable of giving your customers what they’re paying for.

Whilst I understand your sentiments, you must have wondered why they sell the same service at different prices, and just what the difference is?
Well now you know..
And, as you say, the speed guarantee is on connection speed, not over Wi-fi.

And is half of what you expected

True, but it is stated in the details you are given when you sign up.
But yes, it seems unfair if they use it to not bother to investigate actual problems.

Really it's false advertising
I'd leave as I'm still within 14 days but there's nothing to choose between isps at this price point

I tried to re-edit my post, but as usual I ran out of time, but the message doesn't really make sense.
How do they expect me to correct that? A time machine?

The questions below are largely irrelevant as the speeds over Ethernet are only a little higher than WIFI when in the same room as the router. The cityfibre installation could be the issue, but the router is pretty poor, I did borrow another router from a mate and the results were more stable, but not really much faster. When I first asked about the speed some idiot on the helpdesk said I had to turn Windows off to run a speedtest and get faster and truer readings!! Just goes to show that Vf are instructing their support staff to "blow smoke..." and not try to fix a problem that cant actually be fixed anyway!
I was supposed to have an engineer visit today, but as usual they failed to turn up. Im on a 1.6mbps dongle at the moment.
Ive never had the minimum guaranteed speed in a year of having this rubbish so from reading this its now obvious that these two suppliers are incapable of supplying what was offered. Only realy way forward is to flood the web with poor reviews.
