Full Fibre Speed below contractual spec - Configuration issue?

A few days ago I had full fibre 500Mb installed. However I'm getting less than 100Mb (usually get between 90-92Mb). I've contacted Vodafone through the web chat three times now and they keep fobbing me off saying things like there's a settling in period and I'll get full speed by midnight etc. I thought full fibre (with the ONT modem) was fibre to the property therefore there should be no settling in period (unlike fibre to the cabinet). I should be getting the full whack straight off (and certainly no less than the guaranteed 250Mb speed).

I've tried resetting both ONT & router (including factory reset of router) and 3 different ethernet cables (the provided Cat 5e and a Cat 6 & Cat 6e).
On my router under Fibre Status it says:
Status: Up
MaxBitRate: 100 Mbps
DuplexMode: Full
There is no way for me to change this to try and force a change to 1Gbps.

The fact that the connection is stable but not up to contractual spec would suggest it isn't a dodgy connection but a configuration issue. I presume the ONT has been set to auto negotiate and has settled on 100Mb.

Is there anyway this can be looked into by Vodafone?

I've just been viewing that thread, thanks.

I'll see if I can get those details and have a go myself.

Otherwise don't know if I could just get my historic landline number ported from Vodafone to another provider like Sipgate (and just get a new number for Vodafone if necessary).

If you could port your number out you'll have to re-contract with a new deal.

I hope you can get your details. A second hand HT801 off eBay would be a good deal for this use, and will likely be suitable for a sip service when you switch again.

We have to be careful with porting numbers out - if at any time this number was on a sky contract it's not portable (may be the same with other ISPs).

It's my old historic BT landline number, so never been with SKY. I ported it over when I swapped to Vodafone from Plusnet (who do FTTP but no landline with it, they only do for FTTC where I think they must rent lines from BT).

I've got a HT801 in my watchlist on ebay funnily enough. I'll see if I can go this route first.

Sounds like a plan.

Just to update the thread.

I’ve not managed to get hold of anyone willing to give me my VoIP details.

However, I did manage to get a wifi expert to raise a ticket with a 3rd line engineer. After testing the line and going through what trouble shooting I’d already done, they decided the router was playing up and not auto configuring the line speed properly (Maxbitrate stuck at 100Mbps, even after factory reset). They apparently can’t remotely change the duplex speed their end. So I got a replacement router sent out.

Replacement router working as it should now. Well I say that, but as I posted on another thread, I’ve been having trouble with the ethernet not being recognised on my Xbox (problem solved via solution on the thread). I look forward to seeing what other random problems this router will furnish me with - NOT 🤣
