I've just been viewing that thread, thanks.
I'll see if I can get those details and have a go myself.
Otherwise don't know if I could just get my historic landline number ported from Vodafone to another provider like Sipgate (and just get a new number for Vodafone if necessary).

If you could port your number out you'll have to re-contract with a new deal.
I hope you can get your details. A second hand HT801 off eBay would be a good deal for this use, and will likely be suitable for a sip service when you switch again.
We have to be careful with porting numbers out - if at any time this number was on a sky contract it's not portable (may be the same with other ISPs).

It's my old historic BT landline number, so never been with SKY. I ported it over when I swapped to Vodafone from Plusnet (who do FTTP but no landline with it, they only do for FTTC where I think they must rent lines from BT).
I've got a HT801 in my watchlist on ebay funnily enough. I'll see if I can go this route first.

Sounds like a plan.

Just to update the thread.
I’ve not managed to get hold of anyone willing to give me my VoIP details.
However, I did manage to get a wifi expert to raise a ticket with a 3rd line engineer. After testing the line and going through what trouble shooting I’d already done, they decided the router was playing up and not auto configuring the line speed properly (Maxbitrate stuck at 100Mbps, even after factory reset). They apparently can’t remotely change the duplex speed their end. So I got a replacement router sent out.
Replacement router working as it should now. Well I say that, but as I posted on another thread, I’ve been having trouble with the ethernet not being recognised on my Xbox (problem solved via solution on the thread). I look forward to seeing what other random problems this router will furnish me with - NOT 🤣
