I've been monitoring the Gigafast Pro 900mbps service to see how it varies over
- different days
- times of day
- with or without the Vodafone Router connected inline to the Fibre ONT
12th to 14th were with VF Router
15th onwards are without the VF Router, but using a Unifi USG directly connected to the Fibre ONT
The test uses Speedtest CLI running on a Pi directly connected on wired GigE. Graphing is via the Speedtest integration in to PiHole.
The 4 x Zero mbps consecutive readings on 15th at 13:00 to 16:00 and others with 0 Ping times, 0 Download are fasle tests where I was disconnected, so please ignore those. I'm note sure how to remove these from the Speedtest Cli entries.
Test are performed hourly, on the hour.
Does anybody else have a GigE Speedtest setup ? and can you share your experience ?

Im on 900 i get pretty much full speed all day then the evening hits and speeds become very inconsistent been with them nearly 2 years now used to it they clearly are never going to upgrade their network.

I guess my question would have to be, how are you adjusting for other traffic on the network? If you have other activity on the network speedtests will give false results or slow your internet to a crawl!
*I run an unattended daily speed test at around 4am that is used to set parameters for QOS. I also have a connection monitor (less invasive than speedtests) that runs every half hour. The connection monitor originates from my router, with its target being a DNS server. So I'm not against such things, and it has picked up anomalies.
**I sometimes worry that people go looking for problems to fix that don't really exist - however considering how few people use the Unifi USG, problems with the USG do seem to pop up more than would be expected!
