I never seem to be able to get past 580mbps on speed tests. Its even slower on my xbox, normally around 250mbps. This is all running wifi but theoretically I should be able to get far better download speeds over wifi 6.
I dont have anyway of testing hardwired but it seems that the router itself is limited to that speed.
Im on the top tier downloads and am wondering if I should have been sent some newer equipment?

How far is the xbox from the router? What other device are you testing the WiFi with. Can you not plug a pc/laptop into the router's LAN for a true speedtest? Wifi speed is not a true measure of WAN speed.

Xbox is a couple rooms away on the same floor. I was previously maxing out me 200mbps download using the same router in the same place.
I have various wifi devices that are enabled with the latest wifi standards.
In the screen grab I posted I get the max throughout of 585 no problem on my phone so it seems like the max wireless throughput is set at 585 for some reason.

To be clear my xbox seems to top out at 250mbps. Ive tried the beamforming feature via the app and that doesnt seem to help.

I take it nobody moderates these forums then?

The forums are pretty much user to user, with the occasional request to contact Vodafone over social media.
As to your connection speed issues, in order for WiFi6 to work, both the router and devices need to be WiFi6. As far as I'm aware the current XBox is still only on WiFi5 2x2 which would give a theoretical 866Mbps maximum. In a heftily built house I can easily see that meaning only a 250Mbps throughput once you are two rooms away and you have to account for the return data on the same WiFi channel!

Thanks for the response.
The xbox being wifi ac should be pushing a bit more than that.
My phone also being wifi 6 enabled should be getting a better throughput. I think I've reached the limit my router will go so upgrading to 900mbps seems like a bit of a waste if I cant really take advantage of it.

You might want to try an app called "WiFi SweetSpots" - it seems to be a semi-artificial benchmark (but it's much easier than using iPerf). Using that app in the same room as the router the AX capable phone in the earlier screenshot will hit up to 960Mbps (iPerf is closer to just 900Mbps), but if I get as far away as possible inside the house that figure drops as low as 460Mbps.
*This is a modern build house with mostly partition walls, the only solid internal walls being for the staircase. A heftier-built house would cut the signal down further.
**The router here is on channel 100, and is possibly transmitting at up to 1000mW, about 5x the transmit power of the lower channel your router appears to be using (more is not always better though).

I'll have a look at that app and see if it shines any light.
Thanks very much.

I’m assuming you have a series x or series a but neither have Wi-Fi 6 unfortunately
