Wired speed (912mbps) vs Wi-Fi (420Mbps)

Previously I was signed up for Fibre 500, and my wifi devices all seemed to connect to my THG3000 router at speeds of approx 400Mbps, which I was happy with.

However, I have recently upgraded my package to Fibre 910, and  my Wi-Fi devices only seem to connect at around 450 - 520 mbps which is hardly any increase in speed at all. And is infact sometimes less than it was before.

i was not given a router upgrade to the Power hub as part of this upgrade.

i have done a test connecting my PS5 via Ethernet cable to the router, and I am receiving 912mbps through the cable.. so my wifi devices are nearly 50% slower than what the router is receiving.

is this to be expected?  I have tested this with only 1 device connected to the router, and stood right by it to minimise any interference etc from other things.

if this is to be expected, I may as well revert back to my previous/cheaper package.

Yes, it's to be expected. My experience matches yours most of the way, though my notebook, equipped with an ax210 wifi card, will connect at 1200Mb and delivers around 800Mb in the same room as my router. The old mobile connects at 430.

Thanks for you reply.  I think that if this is the case, I will revert to my old contract as I was getting nearly 500mbps on that 👍👍

The UltraHub allows me to connect at 2400Mb via mac however the internet is capped at 1000Mb but I pay extra to for the UltraHub even though I have the same Fibre 910 (and it does have some other issues such as being limited to 1Gb via ethernet).

Also your wifi speed depends on your device, macs have 3x3 Mimo (3 sending and 3 receiving aerials)  as opposed to many pc's which are only 2x2 so you need a matching router (UltraHub is 4x4 and covers 6GHz band) and device to get the best speed
