Digital Voice not receiving calls

  • Hello I had full fibre installed 4 days ago by Openreach, the broadband is working well and when I connected my phone for Digital Voice I got the dial tone and it seems I can make calls from it but not receive them. I read the instructions  in the booklet for connecting the phone to a full fibre box and it says you dont need a DSL cable (though strangely one was included in the kit) and to just connect your phone cable to the telephone port 1 on the router which I've.done, -.because my phone is an older style corded one (a Doro AUB 300i model) which has a different end pin, I bought the RJ11 to BT rhinocable socket mentioned in  some forum posts, and tried that, but still not receiving calls, is there anything I need to do? The booklet says not to use the adaptor with fibre FTTP and only to use it with FTTC, so do I perhaps need to buy a newer phone which has both endings the same and not use the adaptor? Assume I don't need DSL cable? Needless to say I've both contacted Vodafone in  online chat where they say my router is perfectly configured so it will 'definitely work in 48 hours' then after it obviously didnt they then sent my issue to another department which apparently takes up to 72 hours to get a response from.an engineer, maybe! Having  read some messages here, this seems to be a common issue. Any ideas what I need to do? Thanks

Absolutely nothing to do with a DSL cable, the reason you got one is it is included with every router, along with an Ethernet cable, and you use the correct one for your connection.

Your problem is nothing to do with your end, it's all down to Vodafone.

I suspect the only reason they show that the adapter is needed for FTTC, is because the DSL cable is in use connecting the broadband in that scenario.

They really should include a "VoIP adapter" with every router, I really don't understand why they don't.

Have you checked that your outgoing calls have the correct number?

Hi thanks for your reply,  yes the outgoing calls have the correct number.

I'm attaching what the end of my phone cable looks like and also how I've attached it to the router, is perhaps the older handset just not compatible with Digital Voice

Hi Liz

A few weeks ago I signed up with Vodafone b/band plus £10 for the landline. Seemed ok for a couple of weeks then the phone couldn't make or receive calls. Tried unsuccessfully to get an answer so gave up and switched off the router and rebooted which worked but for only a week. The phone problem happened again on Sunday and again today. On the installation day the City Fibre engineer did not use the Vodafone adaptor but had both the 2 leads from my Gigaset phone going into the Tel1 and Tel2 phone ports in the back of the router. I have just removed the one going into Tel2 and all seems well. The flickering green phone light stopped and service is back on hopefully for years but who knows these days?

Good luck

Hi thanks for your message, I never did get a call from a Vodafone engineer, this morning I tried the line and no luck but just tried it  again now and it now accepts in coming calls! :Smiling: so.something must have happened with Vodafone! I didn't reboot the router or anything am and still using same old handset with the adaptor and set up as shown in the photos. Fingers crossed it stays the way it is!
