High pitched tone instead of dial tone

We have been experiencing Internet problems with the same symptoms as we had a while ago when we used BT. Our landline doesn't work and gives a high pitched tone instead of normal dial tone. If I call our landline number from mobile, I get a ringing tone but our phone doesn't ring. Essentially we have a crossed or shorted line. Having problems reporting the fault due to (somehow) failing the security questions. Can anyone report the fault for me?

Nobody here can report the fault for you.

Are you calling 08080 034 515 (Obviously not from your landline, as it isn't working)

Edit, have you turned the router off to see if the landline fault goes away. If it does you probably have a faulty filter.

Trying to avoid phoning. The problem is that I am not the account holder. She doesn't know which end of a phone to blow into and has of course forgotten all the security question answers!

You will still need to contact Vodafone, and a phone will be the easiest method to describe the problem and the reason why you may have trouble passing security. Some of the questions you should be able to find the answer to (such as the account the payment comes from)

Also they can probably set you up as an official contact if the account holder has mental difficulties. (or at least explain how you would go about that)

Thanks, will try phoning.
