Landline Not Working

Just moved over to vodafone and they are supposed to have ported my landline number over, however, my number is not working and there is no obvious way to contact anyone to get it resolved.

Not a great start for a new customer.

Hi. Not sure what you mean here, in the ASNQ cable all 4 wires are separate.

And yes, the cable supplied is only wired to the middle 2 pins.

(I'm even more confused now, because my old cable seems to be the same, so I don't see how that worked!)

Now I'm confused, what old cable  (that worked) are you referring to?

If you meant the BT style cable that was on the DECT base, the RJ11 plug on it would have been using the correct pair of pins.

Sorry, I now realise I was looking at the wrong 'old' cable (RJ11 to RJ11), and have another 'old' cable with RJ11 at one end (with 4 pins), and a BT phone plug at the other. So I plan to try that with a VoIP adaptor. I spent 45 minutes trying to request one via the online chat but eventually had to disconnect, so I don't know if my request has been registered

I assumed, as you used an Amazon link for the cable, you had prime.

If you get items delivered to an Amazon pick up location, it is free. That's what I do.

I know some have managed to get one sent, whilst others have had problems. I think it all depends on the agent you get.

If you didn't get one with the router, something is wrong. Every new install is now using digital voice, so they should all include the adapter.

Adapter arrived, and works. Many thanks for you advice!

(This must be a general problem, if they don't provide the adaptor and then can't resolve it in 3 separate calls and online sessions!)

They have only ever supplied a 2 pin DSL cable (AFAIK) Using the centre 2 pins.

I looked through all my old DSL cables and only found one 4 pin (and it was ancient, probably came with an ADSL modem) but it was straight through, 4 separate conductors (as expected)

As I said the PHONE (and DSL/INTERNET) sockets on the THG3000 only have the centre 2 pins present, so any more in the cable would be redundant.

Apologies for spreading disinformation, I wrote this down wrong. For the record the DECT base uses the outer 2 pins, and the DSL cable provided by VF uses the middle 2. (Either way, guaranteed not to work!)
