Landline Not Working

Just moved over to vodafone and they are supposed to have ported my landline number over, however, my number is not working and there is no obvious way to contact anyone to get it resolved.

Not a great start for a new customer.

Hi, I have this problem. Did you get it fixed? I've had 2 long calls with Vodafone now and they tell me the problem must be with my handset

@PeterRMiles

How are you connecting your handset to the router? Do you only have the one handset? Is the PHONE led on the router lit?

One DECT handset on its base station. Connected to the Tel 2 port on the router using the DSL cable provided. LED on router lit, green.

I've had two 30-minute support calls now, they have now asked me to try another phone, but I don't have one

@PeterRMiles - thanks for the tests you've done. So we can check if it's moved across from our side, please get in touch with us on 191 free from a Vodafone mobile, or 03333 040 191 from a different phone. I'm sorry to ask this, as I can see you've already spent time trying to get this resolved.

Thanks Gemma, but I can't face another round of calling the support line. I believe they have done everything they can without a site visit, and the advice I am getting on here from Jayach seems promising.

Hi Gemma, I have now fixed this with a 3rd party adaptor bought via eBay, following advice on this thread from Jayach. Looks like this adaptor should be supplied with the router as standard.

And if I had followed the helpline advice I would have bought another phone handset (which would not have worked either)

I think may be the problem. some DECT base stations use a different pair of pins to the DSL cable. (you may be able to see for yourself, if the socket on the base station only has 2 connectors)

Refit the original cable and use a so called "VoIP adapter", if you don't have one ask for one from Vodafone,
