Landline phone with own router on FTTP

Just got FTTP and everything is working fine off the VF router. Phone lines are plugged into the VF router, VF router's WiFi is switched off. 3rd party Mesh has been switched to Bridge mode and plugged into the VF's ethernet port.

However I am shocked at how feature poor the VF router is. e.g. There are no Parental controls at all. I know I can get rid of the VF router and plug my own Mesh router into the Openreach ONT, but what about the Landline.

Are there any 3rd party routers in the market that have a telephone socket at the back to allow the home phone to be plugged in?

I get a dial tone. I’m referring to the sound after dialling. It’s odd.

The problem is, and I guess for most people, is we don’t really understand what these settings do. I’m about to throw the towel in. But we need a landline, so not sure what my options are now.

Oh ok, that's the same thing happening to me. I can normally get it to call after ~5 attempts, but it's incredibly inconsistent. All incoming calls work perfectly though.

Apparently it used to work fine, but a few months ago something changed and now it's inconsistent. I tried checking the logs and it looks to be some weird authentication issue, but I've been stuck here too

I don't know if this will help but I posted a while back about a solution using the Yealink W70B instead of Grandstream. To help me understand the problem I wrote a Python script and uploaded to https://github.com/oldajip/vodafone-voip-script. It doesn’t require any special hardware and will test the 'making a call' part of VoIP with Vodafone FTTP. It also plays a short wav file message (optional). Anyway, I just checked and it still works for me, if it works for you then there’s no fundamental problem with your Vodafone VoIP service. In which case maybe look at the Yealink W70B option.

clearly Vodafone have broken something - either by accident, or deliberately, and then only published the fix to their hardware.  I had to reboot my 802 today, and then after a couple of attempts the outbound call worked.

I’m about to give up and send my HT812 back to Amazon. Before I do, since I last posted, anyone else had problems making outgoing calls and found the setting that works?

Grandstream GXP 21xx  series

Has anyone succeeded in getting one of these to work on Vodafone 'VOIP'  ?

Thanks @Cynric I've been tracking this thread for a while - did you mean to refer me to thread I posted in?

I'd seen the GXP1620/25 on the list, but the GXP21xx are high end executive handsets that have many more settings to tinker with. I'm putting it out there hoping someone might have gotten further than me in getting it  somewhere near working.
