THG3000G on FTTC - Upgrading Requires Digital Voice

Hi All,

My son's FTTC package with Vodafone has been out of contract for some time and while upgrading to FTTP isn't an option as he lives in a flat, it seems by looking at his account that he can "upgrade" to virtually the same FTTC speed he has now (around 30Mbps) but at a lower cost. It looks like this will require a switch to Digital Voice at no additional cost to keep his landline number which is OK. His router is a THG3000G so has the two TEL1 and TEL2 ports but looking in the router settings, there's nothing I can see to configure the phone side so do we assume that when he goes through the online upgrade, the router will detect that his account has now been switched and Digital Voice will magically become enabled, presumably after a router reboot?  Either that or would Vodafone send out a replacement router with Digital Voice pre-configured?  Has anyone else been through this process?

It may be the Vodafone content controls haven't been set up, I had the same problem myself when I joined.

Just try changing the DNS settings, as that will bypass the content controls.Jayach_0-1648659152208.png

I can give that a try but I also just came off a lengthy online "chat" with Tobi but "he" actually did ask for the router serial number and said that he had reconfigured the router and sent some steps to reset it to my son's phone via text so when I see him tonight I'll see what he was sent. I'll have more time and another chance to play around with it on Friday so will let you know if I have any progress.

Hopefully whatever "Tobi" has done won't screw up his old router that's currently connected and working because at least he has working broadband (or did this morning).

Well, almost all sorted apart from Digital Voice which doesn't seem to be enabled as there's no green "phone" LED on the back. As for the "no internet access" issue we had, maybe whatever "Tobi" did yesterday to reconfigure the new router may have done the trick because today after leaving no router connected at all for a couple of hours,  I hooked up the power hub and after going through several sequences of front lights, it settled down with WiFi working and the router talking to the outside world. Set a new SSID and password as the one we used before wasn't quite strong enough so had to go round re-configuring  his devices but they are now all happily connected. Just the lack of Digital Voice to sort out now.

Got there in the end!  A phone call to Vodafone and they confirmed that Digital Voice had NOT been enabled so they did that, rebooted the router and when it came back up, everything now works so my son is a happy bunny.

Thanks for all your input.
