Voice text

Yesterday my phone rang with caller id showing my own number. When I answered it I was told there was a voice text, press 1 to play, 2 to save 3 to delete. I pressed 1 and listened to the message and as I was busy pressed 2 to save so I could listen again later. I assumed that 1571 would take me to it, but 1571 is unobtainable! Vodafone technical support assure me they don’t provide this service so who does and how do I get back to the saved message?

I suspect it was BT Text. All About BT Text | BT Help

I don’t see where BT come into it. To try it out I have just sent a text message from my Vodafone mobile to my Vodafone landline. My landline phone rang showing my landline number as caller I’d and it read me the message I had sent!

I have received "texts to voice" on my home phone, and it was the BT service that did it.(and I have never been on BT)

I was just "spam", so I ignored it, although I think I was intrigued and tried to listen to it again, but couldn't figure out how to get it back.

I've just tried a couple of times to text my Vodafone home number from my mobile, like you did, but they just seem to disappear into the ether.

From memory, the number the voice text came in on was not mine, and when I looked it up it was BT text.

I was really surprised about it at the time.

@Ponyman It's a common spam technique to set the caller ID to the called number.
