I recently obtained an Alpha 4g Camp Pro+ which is for accessing 4g from our motorhome. It comes with an antenna and a router. To test it I put the sim out of my contract phone in it. I simply cannot get it to work. I think there maybe a problem with the Alpha software on the router but I wanted to check that it could not be an issue with Vodafone blocking the sims usage in a data device such as this. Also I would like to confirm the settings. The only ones I have are
APN: either wap or wap.vodafone.co.uk
PAP/CHAP user name: wap
PAP/CHAP password: wap
There is also a field for dial number but its blank and one for pin but I have no pin on my phone.
So the questions are, could vodafone be blocking my sim in this device and are these settings the correct ones and do I need anything else?

Hey @barryd999 I hope you're well 😊
We always recommend using a dedicated Data Only SIM in any mobile broadband devices as your phone SIM and the plan it is linked to are specifically designed for use in a mobile phone. You can check out our Data Only SIMs here.

Don't go buying a data only sim, phone sims work in routers just fine.
APN (pay monthly): wap.vodafone.co.uk
username/password (pay monthly): wap/wap
If it's not working then there is an issue with the router or it's configuration.

Thanks for that. I pretty much thought this was the case. I just thought I would ask in case there were any new rules or possibly anything at Vodafones end that could be blocking it. Thank for confirming the wap details also. Its got to be the equipment then. Over a week I have been trying to get this to work.

I'm not familiar with that router but try entering *99# as the dial number and leave the pin field empty.

Thanks. I did try googling Vodafone Dial number but never found anything. Will give that a go. There is definitely something not right with the software though as it never seems to save the settings. Been batting emails backwards and forwards to Alpha in Taiwan for ages.

Hi,
I am having a similar problem, I have a Bluepoint 4/5G antenna connected to a Huawei B353-333 unlocked 4G router, this is for home use my sky broadband only gives12Mbps. I had a site survey done by Parada( makers of the antenna), they said Vodafone was the strongest signal. I tried my contract sims in the router( sky and virgin), they worked but signal was 40-60% only getting 25Mbps, I tried EE pay as you go sim with 5 Gig of data, low signal but worked, I tried 3 pay as you go I got 54Mbps but still low. So I got a pay as you go Vodafone sim, set it up on a phone data, texts and phone working, put it in the router, logged in to router and you can see there I have 100% signal, also I could see the Vodafone texts that were on the phone. I checked the APN settings even called Vodafone and they confirmed them, I also googled and got others but I am still not able to get on the internet, any ideas ?

Hey tojjm, did you manage to find a resolution to your issue? My router was working fine with my SIM two months, I've come to use it again this weekend and it's not working. I have full internet when the SIM is in my phone but I get the same screenshots and error message as in your post. So, if you managed to fix this I'd love to know how so I can do the same 😆
