This issue is likely related to the other topic on YouTube stuttering / taking forever to load but making this post to increase visibility that there's a rather serious issue at the moment with the routing to Google.
I can only download or update the apps if I switch to mobile data or use a VPN, neither of which are practical with a limited data plan and the costs of VPNs.
Has been an issue for the last few weeks but only raising it now as I've spent an eternity troubleshooting everything on my end before I realised that other people were having similar issues with Google services (through Vodafone)

I posted earlier this afternoon about also having this very problem: https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Other-broadband-queries/Fibre-broadband-prevents-downloading-apps-fr...

I don't know how you pay for your VPN, but I use Nord. I joined via Quidco when they had a 100% cash back offer.
I didn't get the full 100% back, but it ended up I paid about £2.00 for 2 years of Nord.

@mmotti - I can see from your other post that you've mentioned you've now contacted us through Social Media. Thanks for doing this. As I've mentioned on the other thread, we'll need the Vodafone router connected for us to go through further tests.
@cakemonitor - I can see @Beth has replied to your other post.
@kocz - I understand from your other post that you're facing this issue on 4G as well. Please contact us through Social Media and explain what's happening (you could include a link to your other post on the Community).

Vodafone router is connected. I'm waiting for the social media team to actually respond to open the issues. Trying to go through security clarification etc when I'm unsure on pin is very testing with one reply per day. As far as I'm aware they've not even opened an issue yet.

Yes I am aware of the irony of them being uploaded to YouTube when VF users can't reliably use YouTube.

I am having the same problem It has cost me a day in trying to figure it out including a lengthy call to Vodafone's technical line. The person on that call (who was very helpful) clearly had no idea about this issue. WHY NOT? The person changed my DNS settings but it made absolutely no difference.
The issue for me is that I am unable to download Android apps from the Google Play store. As soon as I turn off WiFi (Vodafone broadband) the download proceeds normally. Like other users on this thread, I think this started about a month ago (beginning of September 2022). Everything else works fine on WiFi, only the Google Play issue remains.
When is it going to get fixed?

It's astounding that this massively important issue affecting our mobile phone OS and app updates, including security ones, remains unfixed and barely acknowledged after nearly a month.
This wouldn't have happened with BT. The only fix I have is to use a VPN or turn off WiFi and use mobile data*, then it's fine.
*(pref. not Vodafone mobile data)
