Hi, so I had Vodafone for a little while and indoor coverage with 4G is a little bit underwhelming at times while I’m downstairs, was just wondering if the 3G shut off will help with it as I get 3 bars of 3G indoors while I’m downstairs (added images to this post with the signal) in my room I get full bars 4G so I’m fine for now, was just a general inquiry about the 3G shut off. I sometimes get EDGE signals downstairs too. My post code also says I should be getting 5G indoors and outdoors but don’t really have any 5G indoors either and outdoors, I only get 1 bar and was wondering if the 3G shut off will help with 5G coverage too. Technical bits: while I’m downstairs my phone connects to the band 20 LTE network and the rsrp is usually -110 ~ -120 dbm and my room has rsrp of -96 dbm and uses band 7. Any help / answer will be great appreciated as I’m kind of confused about it and don’t want to be left with no signal.

Hi @marziies 👋 Thanks for your query. One of the main purposes of the 3G switch off is so that we can repurpose the freed up frequencies to our 4G and 5G services, this should allow greater speeds and coverage on these services. So I would expect you to see an improvement, it won't be instantaneous though as this can only start to be done once the 3G switch off has happened in your area. You can find more details here.

Coverage patterns are not really dictated by the radio technology (or "G") you're using, but largely by the frequency/band deployed. High-bands generally provide greater capacity, low-bands better coverage.
The VF 3G switchoff will free up additional B8 (900Mhz) & B1 (2100Mhz) spectrum for re-use, but anytime where you're currently getting 3G service only - you're quite likely to now get 2G instead. In-time, if you already get service from a 4G/5G band that has additional carriers/spectrum added, then you should get faster speeds.
The only scenario you'll likely get better coverage is if 3G-900Mhz re-use allows deployment of new 4G/5G service that's not currently offered.
