I sincerely hope this remains as a rumour and they retain the headphone jack.
I've invested over £130 in some Monster Turbines in-ear earphones which would become obsolete if I upgraded to the next new phone ,and this change was implemented.
Im sure some form of connector would be offered with by or a 3rd party but this could degrade sound quality.
