Credit File Error Jeopardising My Mortgage Application

Please Help!  If there is an advisor that can private message me about this I would really appreciate it.  I have tried to usual route and been told someone would call me back, they haven't.  The Credit File Support team seem unreachable and my mortgage application has been declined because of an account that was closed years ago (2010/2011).  It still seems to be active and in 2015 I was contacted by Ardent Credit saying I owed Vodafone money.  I sent them all the paperwork to prove otherwise and contacting Vodafone to ensure it wouldn't happen again.  I have (luckily) all the correspondence including a letter from Vodafone stating they would ensure there would be no damage to my credit history as a consequence of the closure.  Vodafone are massively at fault here and I really need an advisor to help me sort this out urgently.

Hi @clairedesai

I totally appreciate how damaging a Default on your Credit File can be from my own personal experience.

We do have a Vodafone Social Media Team here who read all posts.

Please let them catch up with your thread and they'll bring you in away from the open public forum to pass security checks to confirm your the account holder and they'll help you further with this situation by passing your info to their Credit File specialist teams for investigation.

I wish you all the best with this situation.

Hi @BandofBrothers

Thank you, I'll wait to see if they pick up my thread and keep you posted.

Reading through other posts, it looks like others have been in the same boat as me, it is damaging and stressful, I feel like a criminal!

Hi @clairedesai our dedicated Credit team can help with your query further. Please send us your details via the private message I've sent you.

Hi,

I am hoping someone can help me  I recently tried to apply for a mortgage and was declined and from looking at my credit report I have a default with Vodaphone from 2014. I was unaware of this default at this time until Lowell contacted me informing me that the account has been passed on by Vodaphone. I contacted Vodaphone as this time as I had not received any written confirmation that this account was defaulted and was unaware until Lowell contacted me.
I was reassured by Vodaphone that this default would be lifted as there was miscommunication however, I have only recently discovered that has not been the case and my account still remains defaulted on my Experian credit file.

I have contacted Lowell as I am aware they are the current owners of this account however, they have clearly stated that as Vodaphone were the original defaulters then they can not drop this default unless Vodaphone correct this and inform that of these changes.

I feel this is massively affecting my life again as I am unable to apply for a mortgage or any credit for that matter with this default hanging over my head

Hi @jmcginley

My update so far......it has taken several days of trying 191 and asking for the Credit File Team (don't bother) and I was promised a call back within 3 hours, a day later it never happen.  I then read an articale in the Times that suggested calling [Removed] which is Customer Complaints.  I did this last week and they were really helpful.  The adviser acted as a go between various departments to look into why I still had the historic file held against me and it transpires that moving to a newer computer system could have been the fault (circa 2015).  It has now got to a stage where one department needs permission to close the account before the Credit File Team can close the file.  I had an update today saying they are still waiting for the authorisation, but at least I am being kept in the loop.  It is unbelievable that I am still being penalised for a case I won through the communications ombudsman, Otello, and they will be my next port of call to see if Vodafone have breached what was instructed to them as 'binding' some 7 years ago, but one battle at a time, I need my mortgage first!  Good luck.
