What an awful situation to be in @Sandy22 which makes it worse due to this involving your own child.

He must have known enough account security info to be able to do this.

Unfortunatley as you are the account holder Vodafone would have no option after failing to collect the owed funds as I assume Vodafone would have tried to ring / text and possibly send letters to the address on the account whixh i appreciate you don't reside at but to add a default on your Credit File.

This will last 6 years.

Vodafone are not required to warn a person they are adding a default to a Credit File.

It's default status on your Credit File will change from Outstanding to Settled which looks better when it's paid Off.

We do have a Vodafone Social Media Team here who maybe able to help you further with this situation by passing your info to their Credit File Specialist Team for investigation.

I wish you all the best with this situation.

Hi @Sandy22  I am not an expert in these things by a long shot but have you involved the police in this ? If you have and can clearly prove it is fraud and nothing to do with you then I can't see how Vodafone could then mark it against you ? You cannot be held responsible for a fraud carried out in your name surely ?

Hi,because it’s our son it’s a civil matter apparently,as we now have control over the debt and are repaying it I’m praying Vodafone will remove the default. Sandy

Morning,it is utter nightmare, our relationship with our son I fear is now damaged irrevocably,he has a history of abuse with all of us, my credit file is trashed, we will settle the debt in full now we know about it and spend weeks appealing to Vodafone to lift the default,I spent 40 minuets on the phone to them last night unable to even access the account as my son changed all the security settings, I am waiting for their fraud department to call me this week,my poor husband is grieving his Father and now has this to worry about and the effects on our remortgaging, thank you for your concern Sandy
