Hi. I hope someone can help. A family member gave a SIM card they got as part of a Vodafone broadband deal to my parent who started using it. Now everyone has the number of this sim but unfortunately the family member who gave it to my parent changed bb provider and neglected to tell the parent to get a pac before swapping out the Vodafone sim and destroying it! So is there a way of my parent being able to retroactively get a pac and port their old number over to the new sim?
it would be excellent if someone at Vodafone could help out here.
Thanks in advance for your assistance. Best regards

Hi @Betterthan
Only the account holder can request a Pac from Vodafone to be able to move the number from Vodafone to another network.
What-are-PAC-STAC-and-INFO-codes.
The account holder would need to contact Vodafone Customer Support to see what can be achieved now the account I assume has been closed.
There maybe some difficulty as there is no account to request the Pac for and the mobile number will have been quarantined to be reissued at a later date however there is no harm in the account holder asking.
If the mobile account is still active then Yes a pac can be requested even though the sim card has been destroyed.
See my links above on how the account holder can go about this if a change of netwirk is still required ir alternatively request a replacement sim card.
Unfortunately there is no access to accounts via the forum.

I wish you all the best. 😎

Hi Ann’s and BoB
thanks for those replies. Knowing the family member the account would have been settled there’s just been a lack of foresight here. It looks doubtful but I’ll try asking Vodafone via the online chat
link appreciated bob
thanks

It has to be the family member who contacts Vodafone @Betterthan , unless you have full authority over the account, Vodafone won't be able to discuss the account with you.
The problem will be if the account is closed, this is going to mean reconnecting the contract and there should be a 3 months time limit for reconnection, when this has been completed, your family member should be able to request a PAC.
If Vodafone are able to reconnect the number to your family member it would be recommended for the account holder to complete a Transfer of Ownership to your parent here: Transfer of Ownership this would get the account in your parents name and then request the PAC.

If the SIM was provided as part of a broadband deal with Vodafone Together here: Vodafone Together where Vodafone provide a discount for having broadband and mobile contracts combined @Betterthan , this would be a pay monthly SIM with a minimum terms attached and your family member would have been receiving combined bills for the broadband and mobile SIM.
Tearing up and disposing of a SIM does not cancel a contract. Your family member needs to check the monthly bills, there may well be arrears on the account and the number may still be in contract and getting a PAC now will mean paying up the contract.
It is extremely important for your family member to get this clarified with Vodafone, Vodafone can be contacted through Customer Service channels or there is help from the Social Team through social channels here: Contact Us
