Hello,
This may seem like a stupid question however I'd like to double check to be careful before locking into a 1 year data-only SIM plan with Vodafone. I have a 5G Huawei router at home as we are unable to access fibre in our area. We are currently using a normal EE 5G plan however would like to switch to Vodafone as the speeds are better and the masts are closer. I've tested it with an ordinary £10 PAYG Vodafone SIM and all works well.
The router has a 'phone number' and the ability to receive and send SMS. Will using a data-only SIM limit me with my router in any way? Will I have to send a message to activate anything? Will the router at any time 'require' a phone number or SMS?
Many thanks.

Hey @alan_a01, if you are using a router that has the SIM card slot option then you should have no issues, the only time you may need to confirm a PIN from a text message we will send to the SIM card is if you are logging to your online account which from what you have explained your router has the text message option already.
With the SIM card it self and the contract, you do have a 14 days return period when you receive the SIM just incase if the service didn't work for you as you want or changed your mind.

Thank you Tal, that's reassuring. If I am logging into my online account and a PIN is sent, will I still be able to receive the message on the router, as there is no number. Will it allow for receiving messages?
Although, on my Vodafone PAYG test SIM, to log into my account it allows me to send the PIN to either the phone number set up at the time of the contract or the Vodafone SIM number. Hopefully that should be fine. The 14 day period is also reassuring.
Many thanks.

You are welcome @alan_a01. Yes the log in text message with the PIN can be sent to us even though the plan is a data only SIM card so you wont have any issues there.
