I have an Oekofen boiler that for years I have been able to control remotely with my iPhone until I switched my router to a Vodaphone Power Hub DSL with WiFi 6.  The boiler connects to the router through a pair of dLAN  power line adapters.  I’ve established that data is flowing back and forth to the router and the boiler is ‘connected with LAN and internet’ on its control screen but my phone app indicates that the boiler is offline. I have reset everything on several occasions. I have spoken to Oekofen who are blaming the router. I have opened the router up to all traffic with no restrictions, no firewall etc.. and still the boiler is ‘offline’.  I have installed the boiler control software on my pc and that shows the boiler is offline.
the crazy thing is that I have a cctv system that uses the same setup and that worked instantly and I can control my cameras from my phone.
Has anybody had a similar problem and did they find a solution please?

It sounds like a frustrating issue! Since you mentioned that your CCTV system works fine with the same setup, it does seem like there may be an incompatibility between the Oekofen boiler control software and the Vodafone Power Hub. Here are a few things you could try:

  1. Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure both your Vodafone Power Hub and the dLAN adapters have the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, compatibility issues can be resolved through updates.

  2. IP Address and Port Forwarding: Verify that your boiler has a static IP address assigned and isn’t changing. If the boiler uses specific ports, try setting up port forwarding rules for those ports in your router settings to ensure that data is being correctly routed.

  3. Disable Wi-Fi 6 Compatibility: Although Wi-Fi 6 generally offers better performance, it can sometimes cause issues with older devices or software. If possible, switch the Wi-Fi setting to a previous standard (like Wi-Fi 5) or connect the boiler’s control unit to a Wi-Fi 5 network and see if that makes a difference.

  4. Alternative Network Setup: Since the boiler worked with your previous router, you might try setting up an older router in bridge mode as an intermediary between the boiler and your Vodafone router. This can help isolate whether the issue is with the direct connection to the Vodafone router.

  5. Check App Permissions: Ensure that the Oekofen app on your phone has the correct permissions and isn’t being blocked from accessing your network or mobile data. It might also be worth uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

If none of these solutions work, you could try connecting with Vodafone support to see if they have any specific advice for your router model. Hopefully, one of these steps will help resolve the issue!

@leestanton Please don't paste A.I. generated stuff.

Sorry I’ve not been back in touch. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my original query. I’m not the most technical individual so I’m getting help to go through your various suggestions.  I’ll get back to you if we solve the issue.  Many thanks again.

Andrew

@AMrock9 Could you please try with IPv6 and guest WiFi both off and see what happens?

Do you use HomeKit / HomeBridge to connect to your Apple device(s)?

If you can change the DNS servers on the router, try changing them to Google (8.8.4.4 & 8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare (1.0.0.1 & 1.1.1.1) or some combination.

We tried your suggestion and unfortunately it hasn’t resolved the issue but many thanks for your input.

Andrew 😊👍🏻

The problem is that you've actually already done most of the things that would solve the issue under normal conditions.  The last stage is often the complete reset of the boiler system - which you've already done.  I can only really suggest if you can find a local computer nerd to have a look for you.
