Tech News : Smartphones may get more secure.

Smartphones set to become more secure.

More recently fingerprint technology has become more evident in the higher end Smartphones such as Samsung's and iPhones.

But with the right kit these can be fooled. No easily but nether less they can.

Now it looks like we are possibly coming into new technology that uses your eyes iris to map the pattern of blood vessels.

The thing about using your eyes for extra security to access your phone is that they’re even more complicated than fingerprints making them impossible to fake.

It's not perfect I submit as you’ll always need to hold your phone up in front of your face / eyes to unlock it.

Android launched face recognition but it apparently could be tricked by a photograph.

Amazon are possibly looking at wanting to use your phones front camera to recognise your ear ! How successful that would be is yet to be seen if it comes to fruition.

Possibly a new way to protect access to your phone is with your heartbeat. Your heart creates a unique rhythm that cannot be faked. All you’d need to do is wear a smartwatch to monitor your heart. The  watch already has this feature. You can even send a heart beating to your own heart rhythm to someone else.

Source of some information from : The Lowdown.

Personally I'm all up for any tech that protects a smartphone and hopefully deters a pickpocket.

I have ->

Sim Pin activated.
Finger Print Access.
4 Digit Pass Lock.
Activation Lock & Find my iPhone Activated.

What do you think ?

What protection do you have activated on your phone.

The main problem is that where people and their mobile phones physical security are concerned they are so brain dead when walking down the street, not looking where they're going whilst texting or holding it to their ear chattering away absoluteley oblivious to who or what's going on around them or headphones plugged in with the lead trailing to and telling others which pocket it's in or sticking half out of their trousers back pocket for all to see, it's no wonder they loose them. If owners were more responsible and aware, what happened to inside jacket pockets with a zip?, why not use a tether that you can attach to the phone and around your wrist or similarily a longer lanyard tether to your belt?, If you ask me a lot of people deserve to loose their phone, it teaches some a hard lesson!

I'm sure we all know what you mean but I find your remarks harsh. No one deserves to be mugged or robbed and we should be able to walk around in safety. The victims are not at fault - they thieves are!

Phone security isn't all about phones being stolen or even lost. They do go wrong and can get wet and stop working. I'm also constantly surprised how many people drop their phone down the toilet - often more than once.

iCloud is expensive if you need more than the 5GB standard storage. Google Photo will give you free unlimited photo storage and all you need is a gmail account. Photos will automatically be backed up on Wi Fi.

Physical backups via iTunes are also easy.

Android phones also have oodles of choice from Google, the phone manufacturers and others.

There is simply no reason to lose information if you lose your phone.

We're all constantly being told of the problem people have having their phone snatched or pocket picked, why don't they take notice of it?, are they all so engrossed in their phone that they never watch the news or read the papers?, people need to be more aware, alert and responsible and look after it better, perhaps if they did there would be less phone theiving, you can't blame the theives entirely, if people were more alert and sensible they'd keep their phone safer, I see people walking along with their phone as I have said and it's just an open invitation to loose it.

Sorry Jeffkin, I was typing this whilst you were replying to previous. Yes, it is amazing how people loose their phone in the toilet, in a sink or a bucket of water, perhaps they all have sweaty slippery hands, even more reason to 'get a grip' and look after your phone. Of couse, the physical side of looking after your phone is an aside as well as its content security but one goes with the other, which ever way you loose it.

I was pick pocketed and had no idea it was taken until I wanted to use it.

These people are professional thieves.

That said I've seen minors who barely look 10 years of age walking around with high end smartphones not attempting to shield what they have in their hands.

Having a lanyard attached to a phone is just not viable for everyone. I work in a Trade Warehouse so theirs no way I can have something dangling from my person, especially as I drive a Forklift Truck.

I use a PD Air Belt Holster while at work.
