Apple may have only just unveiled the iPhone 7 but the Cupertino tech giant is already planning their 10th anniversary iPhone – the iPhone 8.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus haven’t really pulled up many trees as there were only minor updates but the expectations are high for the 2017 models.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed that there may be some radical redesign elements for the new device.
As the jet black model proved to be very popular, Apple have decided to include all-glass casings on their 2017 devices Kuo has also said that he thinks that Apple’s competitors will release their own versions with glossy metal or glass casings, forcing Apple to release an even more scratch resistant case.
This will be sure to please users who had been disappointed with how easily the cases had been scratched on this year’s model.
That being said, that did not appear to affect demand but Apple would like to find something that is more durable.
Kuo however still questions whether it is possible for Apple to release a device with an all-glass casing at this stage, while a metal frame will add “reinforced structure design” to the all glass iPhone 8.
Stainless steel is likely to be the material of choice but Kuo suggests that the high price may make this impossible apart from on the high end models.
It is believed that work has already started on the new model in its Hezliya office in Israel.
An employee has leaked that the iPhone 8 will have better camera technology than anything that has appeared on iPhones in the past so no doubt there will be plenty of rumours leading up to the devices’ official release.
