Hi all
My broadband contract ended back in March and my account is still open and unused. Is there a way of closing the account easily? It's just an extra thing on my credit file that doesn't need to be there. I'm still able to login to the account so it's still "active" in that sense. Any help appreciated

Hi @Caracal
The contract won't just end, it will continue until you contact Vodafone and make the request to cancel.
If you are not moving to a new provider where the new provider will make the necessary transfer arrangements ending the Vodafone agreement, you are going to need to speak to Vodafone, if you simply end without making any transfer agreement, you will be without any broadband service for several weeks.
The number for Vodafone is 03333 040 191. Also further information for you here: Cancel Broadband
When you leave there will be two further bills, there may be a credit for line rental paid in advance, and Vodafone will cancel the direct debit when they have generated the final 0.00 bill.

Hi, thanks for replying. I know that the contract needs to be cancelled, we were switching provider so we recieved all the notifications saying our contract was ending, and my account is showing as "no active plans with this account." Which is fine, I just need to know how to actually get the account closed I've already had the bill credit.

Is that so? I'm not even under contract and had a cancel date of 6th feb and yet it is still on. you just won't turn it off. Disgusting company. Forcing people into further debt.

Hello @Caracal
The options to choose to close your account is fully detailed within How cancel-your-account.
Please don't cancel your direct debit until you receive a Sorry your Leaving Letter and £0 bill.
Also some possibly relevant information within Experian/when-are-closed-accounts-deleted and experian/closed-accounts-will-remain-in-credit-history-for-10-years.
