Allow simple wifi passwords

I’m using the standard Vodafone broadband router; but if I try to set a simple password for the wifi; it doesn’t allow me to set it! How can I make it allow any password I want for the wifi?

It sounds like the password you're trying to use doesn't meet the minimum requirements, to make sure it's a secure as possible. What error message do you get?

.@liquidsmoke simple passwords are a security risk. Go to a site like this example to generate a password that is easier to remember but still remains secure.

Yes yes. But that’s not what I need to know! Does anyone know how to get this router to allow you to use whatever password you like please!? There must be a way; I mean it’s my router, so it should be my choice!! 😡

And yes I know the router isn’t allowing if cos it has a password complexity policy enabled! My question is how to I disable that password complexity setting, and so allow me to use whatever password I like…

The Vodafone routers are so heavily tied down that you have no likelihood of defeating it, even if you were a genius hacker. (well, maybe then, are you?)

So you’re saying that it’s totally impossible!? Seriously!?? I would be absolutely amazed if nobody had ever been able to get Vodafone to sort this issue out for people!? And yes as a matter of fact; I do work in a company called Xilinx who designs and makes networking hardware and software…So yes I could probably do it myself…I think I would need Vodafone to give me some help with some of the basics of how the router firmware works; just enough info to allow us to edit and write our own code to modify the behaviour of the router…

Vodafone, quite rightly, aren’t going to give you any help in respect of hacking their router, and to think otherwise is simply cloud cuckoo land.

”Dear Subscriber, further to your request for information that will enable you modify the behaviour of our current router, THG3000, we are happy to provide our THG3000 Deluxe HackPack.  Even though we don’t know you from Adam, we trust you to not use your complimentary HackPack to maliciously gain access to anybody else's router for any purpose."

If you don't like the security measures of your Vodafone router, you could always use a third party device of your own choosing.

It’s possible that you e inadvertently given me some useful info tho; is the current router model named “THG3000”?
