Broadband wifi/tapo devices issues at 2.4ghz

I have tapo plugs and lamps that operate at 2.4ghz. These worked fine when I was on ee but since switching to Vodafone with the 5ghz router I found I have an issue with connecting them to the WiFi at 2.4. I have read various articles about going into the hub and splitting/changing the frequency which I have tried both on the app on my Samsung A53 phone and a desktop pc. I think the issue is with  the 2.4ghz, my phone is not picking up the WiFi signal.

I have tried with the router set at split signal and at only 2.4ghz. I was only about 6ft from the router at the time. I switched off the auto connect on my phone to the 5ghz and set my phone to forget the 5ghz network and it was still not showing on the scan when at 2.4ghz. I have tried entering the details manually still without success.

So when I go though the tapo app it finds my lamps using the tapo signal but is unable to find or connect the the 2.4 wifi because my phone can't find it. Even when I put in the 2.4ghz wifi details manually when setting up the lamps it still doesn't find it.

Bit of a loss as to why my phone doesn't see the 2.4ghz wifi when it scans for wifi.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

Have taken a few screen shots from my desktop pc  of the Vodafone analyzer showing WiFi networks and channel information for both 2.4 ghz and 5ghz, is this what you are referring to?

The main WiFi is still currently split.

I did try a few more things. I tried setting Guest WiFi to split and just 2.4ghz but my phone still failed to find the 2.4ghz frequency.

Ah. A communication burp.

I was referring to the WiFi Analyzer app for android phones/tablets. The vodafone Analyzer only shows other networks around you.

I'll install another Analyser. One I have ATM doesn't seem to show the graph only WiFi networks, connected devices and speed test.

At work now but get back to you later.

Thanks

@GRAHAMWARR

It does sound like the 2.4Ghz is broken on your router. Have you tried a factory reset?

Just one other burp, "control" channels also carry data, control and extension are a bit of a misnomer, it's more just an example of increasing the bandwidth for the sub-channels.  I'll try and catch my WiFi6 extender when it narrows its 2.4GHz bandwidth to just a fraction of a conventional channel...

Anyone else seem this? WiFi6 coming to Vodafone.

In comparison here is s screen shot taken from the same Analyser which clearly shows my 5ghz SSID at the top. Vodafone5g0DBCC6

Guys, we're misreading what the signal curves in WiFi analyser mean.  If you set the channel to 1 you'll see that the curve falls well below too.  It would only be an issue if the centre of a channel were to fall above channel 13 or below channel 1.

Regards the new router, it seems an odd choice - except in very WiFi-overcrowded environments, WiFi6E performs worse than WiFi6!

It really does sound like your router is not broadcasting the 2.4Ghz signal. If a factory reset doesn't bring it back, contact Vodafone.

And your screenshots say the same thing.

Clearly you have a case against the vodafone router. Try a factory reset and if that doesn't bring it back you need to take your evidence to Vodafone.

Is there another router you can use? Would save all the time wasted with vf support going round in circles, and waiting for replacement routers.
