I previously had a home broadband plan with Vodafone last year.
I was on a monthly rolling contract (which meant I could cancel any time) and decided to cancel in August 2021 as I was moving home.
I rang Vodafone to confirm this and tell them I was cancelling the plan. The man on the phone assured me that was fine and that my account would be closed. As I paid each month, I was assured that I had nothing left to pay.
Fast forward to this month (December 2021/2022) as I have been trying to apply for a mortgage, I have found it extremely difficult due to “issues on my credit file”. When I investigated with Experian, it appears that Vodafone have made notes on my credit file for “late payments” of £15 in arrears!!
I have received absolutely no correspondence from Vodafone regarding this, via phone email OR post, and it is having a significant impact on my credit score (I have now gone down about 170 points because of this!)
I want this default to be removed ASAP as I was not informed that I owed Vodafone any further monies and was told that my account was closed. Please can someone sort this out for me as it is having an impact on my finances and my living situation, of which I need to move in the next few months.

Hi,
Did you cancel your Direct Debit as soon as you requested the number be cancelled, or after it had actually been disconnected and you'd received your final bill/credit? If you cancelled it straight away without waiting for the final bill it may be a legitimate record, in which case Vodafone won't remove it from your file, if you had your final bill and paid it then I would suggest talking to the credit file team (through Vodafone's social media teams, or over the phone), as mentioned in previous posts to have it looked into
You can also let the credit reference agencies know you dispute the default, which bars lenders from taking the default into account until Vodafone's come to a decision (whatever that may be and however long that takes) and will trigger the CRA to confirm the record with Vodafone too.
