We can only receive wifi in the rooms close to the router, we have been told to use additional routers, wifi extenders and powerline extenders so I'm now completely confused.
we have 3 storeys up and same wide so would need 2 of whatever is needed.
Has anyone got any experience of this and advice on which of the 3 to choose please.
Solved! Go to best answer.

Hey @madmumof5
Powerline adapters are great, they plug into your mains power sockets, and basically create a network over your electrical mains circuit. One drawback is there prone to interference from devices plugged into other sockets. I have a couple of fish tanks at home and the pumps I use cause a bit of interference on mine.
They’re pretty inexpensive though, and It would be an idea to get a couple of these to try them out.
Wi-Fi extenders are also great;. You just need to install them where the signal is starting to drop off they will then send out another Wi-Fi signal which can reach further. There are basic ones and slightly techier ones which create a mesh network in your home.
Using another router is an option too, it would be best to run an Ethernet cable from our router to the other one. You can then use the other router in the same way. The drawback is the Ethernet cable running through your house.

am so stressed out by Vodaphone! They are useless! I have been working my powerline extender for 2 years through the pandemic in my home study (read bedroom), with no issue. Yesterday, all of a sudden, the powerline extender does not work! I now have to work in the kitchen! Every time I try to talk to Vodaphone it takes me over an hour to get through to anyone! It is going back and I am heading to another company! Unless anyone knows how to get the powerline extenders working for me!!! Cheers

Did Vodafone supply your Powerline extender? If not, what are you expecting Vodafone to do for you? Your router appears to be working…

… and that is as far as their support goes.
If you know your Powerline extender is not working then perhaps you should be reaching out to their support rather than to Vodafone. Realistically, how can any ISP support every random 3rd party bits of kit we use on our side of their routers?
A similar thing happened to me with a BT branded Wifi extender that just stopped working after a couple or three years in 24/7/365 use. It never even crossed my mind to call Vodafone support. Why would it? Tried to get it working, failed and so I simply binned it and bought a new extender solution which worked straight out of the box with the VF router.
Flouncing off to a new ISP wouldn’t have brought my failed wifi extender back to life but it would have cost me for the early termination as well as a new extender. 🤔

I was about to say the same as @HappyNomad , If your extenders have worked for 2 years, and now they don't, that is a problem with the extenders. BT would just try to sell you some of theirs, Sky/Now wouldn't have a clue. Goodness knows what TalkTalk would say. Zen would probably try to help, but that help is configured into their higher prices.

Powerline extenders don't have a master and slave config, so I'd start by swapping them around to see if you can then get the router to connect to one powerline device. If that works, and you still only have one (the one connected directly to the router) powerline device connected, then it's likely that the other device has failed. Powerline devices do tend to have relatively high failure rates.
