IF YOU ARE USING A THIRD-PARTY ROUTER THAT WORKS 100% WITHOUT BUGS.PLEASE PM ME THE MAKE AND MODEL SO I CAN UPDATE THE LIST

The first thing you need to do is ask Vodafone for your username and password. live chat with Vodafone is best because you can copy and paste the name and password into the router. ( some users did write it down wrong. password is lower and upper case. username watch out for zero and o )

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/contact-us/index.htm

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/bbservcd/

FTTC SETTING         ( FTTP is below FTTC)

The setting is the same for all the routers it's down to the isp (the setting page will be laid out differently but the setting are still the same, eg

Vodafone setting are

Vlan ID - 101

enable 802.1q (not on every router)

Username  - ******@broadband.vodafone.co.uk

Username - ******@businessbroadband.vodafone.co.uk  ( for business customers )

Password - ********

PPPoE

MTU Size : 1492

rest of the setting auto detect when the router and the dslam are negotiating with each other

TP-Link Archer VR400 V3 AC1200 Wireless MU-MIMO Dual Band (1st Advanced tab, change the Operation Mode to Wireless Router Mode (the ONT is acting as a modem, hence it will not work if you are in DLS Modem Router Mode). 2nd  Do not enable VLAN ID or it will not work! Vodafone will tell you to set it to 101, if you do this it will not work! Keep the default MTU size (1480), do not change it to 1492, as suggested in several posts in this thread, or it will not work!.

Your extra pictures have now been moderated. They say the WAN port is unplugged.

I'm even more convinced the router must be faulty.

For those using unifi devices I can confirm that the udm pro I bought about 1-2 years ago works. Just do not set the vlan id. Also it works in port 8 when setup as a wan port and also works in port 10 with sfp rj45 connector and im sure it will work in port 9 which current has virgin as primary. Note I had the udm pro working with failover and distributed

That's only applicable to Openreach connections. For CityFibre use 911.

thx Ripshod, good point I did see that too. FYI Vodafone sent the following which is wrong when openreach provide the fibre:

"Hi x,

Thank you for contacting Vodafone!

This is your router login details:

Username -x@broadband.vodafone.co.uk

Password - x

Vlan - 101or 901

Thanks,

Vodafone Webchat"

just note that some ppl including me included the - (minus or hyphen) in the email address for login, avoid that mistake.

their following up message led me to this forum which was useful except for the vlan id when not on city fibre. Which I believe required bland id to be set to 911:

"Hello x,

Steps how to connect 3rd party router -

1) You need to connect your 3rd party router using the LAN/ETHERNET cable.

2) Then, you need to login into your 3rd party router ( just like the Vodafone router has the admin page at 192.168.1.1), your 3rd party router also has also the admin page the link and the password will be on your router and then when you login into your admin page.

3) Then, you need to enter your PPPoE username and password and enter the Vlan id, your vlan id is 101 or 901.

Here's guide how to connect :
