I'd assume you'd need to go through trying to get that router associated with your account with also inputting any required passwords credentials etc via contacting Customer services.
Personally I'd wait for your own router and perhaps use the one left as a back up if ever needed.
The original owner really should have dropped it off at a Vodafone Highstreet Store or sent it back in a Returns Bag.
