Replacement Router

Hi All,

I've recently upgraded to Vodafone full fibre but I'm having issues with the supplied router - it doesn't reach certain areas of the house and we lose connection quite often.  My wife works from home, so she needs a consistent connection to enable her to do her day-to-day activities.  I've been told that the best option is to replace the free router with a better paid for solution, but I don't know which one would be a good replacement?

Could someone please recommend a decent replacement which will hopefully help us with a consistent connection that will reach all areas of the house.

Thankyou in advance.

Whatever you end up going for, it's worth knowing that in terms of distance without a repeater, then a dual-band router will perform better than a tri-band router (fewer radios to interfere with each other).  On 5GHz the difference in speed that AX routers offer can be impressive.

The router here is an Asus GT-AX6000.  I can get a signal in the open anywhere on the cull-de-sac here, but not in one hidey-hole in the house that needs to hide a couple of smarts - meaning i have to use an Asus RP-AX56 to get the signal around that one corner (and it gives a bit of a boost in the bathroom for AC devices)!

Downside of the GT-AX6000, it's big and it's ugly - H R Geiger would approve!

As you are Full Fibre, I would suggest doing away with the Vodafone router and getting a mesh system. Any of the TP-Link Deco's should be suitable, but obviously the more you pay the better they are.

The only problem is you will lose easy access to the phone line.

Edit: You say you are on Full Fibre, but are you on Pro II? I have no idea how good (or not) it is, but from the info supplied so far it might be what you need.
