My Honeywell Evohome Home Controller for my home heating system relies on Internet WiFi connection to optimise heating according to outside temperature, The Outside temperature is sent to the controller by Honeywell/Accuweather by internet. This worked perfectly well for several years until I changed ISP from Plusnet to Vodafone. All other internet and wifi infrastructure in my home works perfectly well on Vodafone's Router.
My issue is the Evohome controller shows a successful connection to ISP Vodafone via my home wifi network but does not receive nor indicate my regional outside temperature. I suspect the outside temperature cannot ping from Honeywell through to the Honerywell Home Control despite it showing it as being connected.
I guess the issue is Router related. It's firmware is 19.4.0551-3261103
Just to be clear, my regional outside temp is not data from an outside thermometer. It is a temperature sourced by Accuweather for my region and that digit is fed to my Controller by Internet by Honeywell via Internet.
Solved! Go to best answer.

Best way to reset is with the recessed button on the back, holding it in for 10 seconds. You shouldn't lose your phone or anything else as the settings will be reloaded from their server. Effectively a reprovisioning.
Make a brew after reset as the router will go through a few reboots before settling down.

I repeated the test connecting my Evo Controler wifi to my mobile phone as hotspot which works on a Plusnet phone sim (that is not using the VF Router for internet service.
The Outside Temp appeared immediatley
I think my only option is to a FACTORY RESTORE SETTINGS on my router.
Is there a best way to do this? Will I lose my phone line and have to spend hours on the phone to get it re-connected, etc?

Personally I prefer to factory reset from the routers menu, sometimes the button seems to leave the router in a strange state. (at least it does for me)
Although I can't see it making a difference to the problem.

I'd still suggest a reset of the Evohome (both controller and display), before resetting the router. It can be a bit of a pain if you've loads of custom timers, but all too often it seems to start from scratch is the best way!

The Vodafone Router was reset holding the button for 10+ secs.
After re-connection the "Outside C" appeared and has been updating itself during the past 24hrs. (big smiles)
I had tried reset before, but not for 10+ seconds. This seems to have solved the issue.
A have not opened the router browser management console as yet, so not renamed any SSID's or Pwds, etc as yet. Am I correct in thinking when I open my browser console all the former settings and optional port opening malarkey are purged away and best left as it is working now?

Yes, all the router's settings will be back at their default.
Glad you seem to have sorted it now.

Glad it is now working, I really didn't think a factory reset would make a difference. I wonder just what settings was causing it?
Yes everything will, as @Ripshod said, be back at defaults. Resetting passwords and SSID should cause no problems.
Obviously there will be no ports forwarded at the moment (except any set by UPnP) so that was not the problem.

My thoughts were wrong, that a factory reset could be a nightmare and is a last resort. Even the error message I had on my phone line-inactive has now gone. (phone was working anyway).
But strange there was a problem after the initial OpenReach commissioning. Then came all the ideas and fiddling the settings of specific port numbers, etc, none of which were mentioned in Honeywell User Instructions, So perhaps this made the problem worse. Then along came the view to have a fixed IP address. By this time I guess the Router was in need of a good flushing, and hey presto it reconnected adjusted accordingly. Although I did turned off power supply and also hit the reset button earlier I think the advice to hold it10 seconds probably nailed it. Pity the router leaflet did not mention 10 seconds.
I have to make piece with the Honeywell support team now !

Hey Ripshod, I thought you may like some final information.
Things stopped working again so I rebooted the router several times. But now each reboot did not fix the issue. I rebooted/powered off the Rooter back to as-new status about 5 times, and eventually I lost all internet, and 192.168.1.1 would not start the router interfacel. I was in a mess with no internet, but I could Google for help on my Mobile Phone data SIM for help on 192.168.1.1 blocked. The advice was to clear cookies from browser. I had been using Chrome.
I first tried my alternative Mozilla and the Router was then accessible. So I then cleared cookies on Chrome, but Chrome would still not recognize 192.168.1.1. Finally on Chrome I went to Settings > Reset Settings > restore Settings to Original Default. SUCCESS !!! I could access my router again and then do a full router reboot from scratch.!
All devices were properly set up automatically, no need to change any rooter settings whatsoever. The Vodafone router automatically accesses each connected devices and set all necessary protocols.
This also cleared our original Android App issue. It no longer shut down, and both SIM and Wifi access working properly.
Hope this is of interest. "Do a Browser Reset followed and then a Router Reset" is the best solution,
Barry

Thanks for the update Barry. Not the solution I envisioned, it's certainly strange with the browser issue (cookie issue). I'm glad you're all sorted. 😉
